Most equipment now days comes with a 10 year manufacturers limited warranty on the parts and compressor. Some manufacturers will offer a lifetime replacement guarantee on their higher end systems if the compressor fails. Rheem does offer a unit replacement if your compressor fails within the 10 year warranty period.

What You Must Do In Order To Use The Warranty

What some dealers fail to mention is that your new AC system must be registered with the manufacturer within 60 days of purchase. If not registered in the proper amount of time then you will only receive a 5 year parts and compressor warranty. These limitations apply to new construction homes as well. The clock starts the day you close on your new home. So don’t hesitate and register all of the appliances in your home in order to receive your full warranty.

The 10 year warranty will only apply to the original owner who purchased the equipment. If you sell your home the new owner will only receive the remainder of the 5 year warranty.

Most manufacturers offer a smart phone app that allows you to verify your warranty. You can also call the manufacturer to verify warranty terms.
