Spring Cleaning and Your Yearly AC Check Up

Ac Check Up Spring Yearly

Regular maintenance on your HVAC system is just as crucial as regular maintenance on your automobile. Spring is the perfect time for an ac check up. While handling your spring-cleaning projects, take a look at your systems and add these items to your spring HVAC checklist.

It’s Time For An AC Check Up

It is important to always check your heating and cooling equipment at the beginning of each season. You will want to check both your indoor and outdoor units. Are they working properly? Are there any strange smells? Are they making any strange sounds? If the answer to any of these is yes, it could be time for professional help.

Your indoor HVAC components need to be cleaned and lubricated to make sure all parts are operating properly and at maximum efficiency. The coils and blower fans need to be dirt and dust free to ensure your HVAC unit is working at it’s best level.

Outdoor units need to have the same cleaning but there are other factors to consider when maintaining your outdoor unit. Leaves, grass, mulch, sticks and many other items can be blown into your system and get stuck in the crevices. Any of these obstructions can reduce the airflow and can be extremely harmful to your HVAC system. Storms often leave dirt and debris in and around your outdoor HVAC components. After turning power to the system off, carefully remove any debris that has accumulated around the system or in the metal cage that surrounds the components. Use a garden hose to gently wash away any dirt, dust, and debris that are on the coils.

Change Those Filters!

You may need to replace your filter each month, depending on the type of filter you use. Keeping dust and dirt from building up will keep your system more efficient and prevent blockage that can cost you money. When your HVAC system isn’t running efficiently, it requires more energy to heat or cool your home properly.

Schedule A Preventive Maintenance AC Check Up

Having a professional HVAC technician inspect your HVAC system allows small problems to be taken care of before they turn in to big problems. Additionally, preventive maintenance ensures your HVAC system is working properly and efficiently.
